L.A.U. Executive Response to Extraterrestrial Communication

The question that has mystified the millions for decades has finally been answered, are we alone in this universe?  But with this answer, and given the communications we received, more questions should be asked.  Are we safe from these extraterrestrial beings?  Is it worth building this machine?  Should we instead be funding military projects for more powerful weaponry?

I, personally, believe that it is worth funding and building this alien machine over funding increased military weaponry.  As Mr. Morimoto of Japan stated, it is irresponsible to build weaponry and prepare for war against someone, or something, that we have never met.  Do we really want to create this image of us being fueled by war, even when we don't know who we're fighting or what they are capable of?  Even if these extraterrestrial beings come to Earth as peaceful beings, how do you think they'll view us when they land surrounded by powerful weaponry?

Within Latin America there are two countries that do not have a standing military, but you don't hear about them getting attacked on a regular basis.  Why?  Because they are not a threat to other countries.  If these extraterrestrials come and see that we have, in a sense, purposely made ourselves a threat to them, they will (most likely) feel threatened.  We can also safely assume that these extraterrestrials don't speak in a language understood by humans, so how will they know that the weapons pointed at them are only for protection?

Instead, we need to focus on what we are given.  We know that the machine schematics were sent with a date on when to activate it.  I have spoken with both the head of science and the head of military of the Latin America Union, and they both agree that this machine should be built.  I agree too.  5 Trillion dollars may seem like a lot of money, but so is spending that 5 Trillion on advanced weaponry.  And I don't believe it was anyone's plan to have one country foot the entire bill.  Between our countries we have the funding, we have the resources, we have the scientific knowledge, and we have a large, skilled workforce.

Lastly it should be noted, and quite grimly, that if these extraterrestrials have intent to come to Earth to wipe out the human race, they will.  It is obvious that their technology, and most likely their weapons, are far superior to ours.  Instead, we need to disprove thousands of years of human history of seeing who can build the biggest weapon, and work together to bring intergalactic peace.
